Are you ladies looking for a place to meet other mummies and a place for your pre-schooler (0 – 5 years) to play, be creative and learn about Islam?
Then join us at Barakah Playgroup, Leeds Grand Mosque! Everybody is welcome regardless of your background or faith. The only conditions are that you are a mummy with a preschooler or two and you love to natter over a cuppa or three!
We are flexibly structured and usually cover a short Islamic interactive lesson for the children, which is then followed by a related craft activity. For eg. talking about Allah’s creation then drawing, sticking and colouring in some of the same.
Tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit are provided and there is usually a short break for lunch (you either bring your own or we can order some in when there is demand).
All in all, Barakah is a fantastic place to meet new people and also find out about other events going on in the community.
We are currently running on a monthly basis on Tuesdays between 11am and 1pm. Specific dates this year are 12th January, 9th Februry, 8th March and 19th April inshaAllah.
Cost is £1 per family so come down and meet some new sisters.
Barakah Playgroup, set up in 2011, is a mother and toddler group occurring once a week which brings together women from all backgrounds to meet other women and for their children to interact in a safe and fun environment which include toys and unlimited snacks for all. Healthy eating is promoted with fruits and vegetables; offered to both mothers and children.
We envision helping to build communities for our children to thrive in, especially within an Islamic environment. This session includes arts and crafts which is very popular with all the children, singing songs and storybook sessions.
The group also aims to benefit from external experts such as advice from doulas on pregnancy and birth preparation, breastfeeding counselling, mother and baby yoga activities, looking after your body, first aid and much more.
